WEEK 01- First Phase Teaching Practice

 Teaching Practice – Week 1

( 14th July - 18th July)

During the first week of teaching practice, I reported to the school at 9:15 a.m. every day. The first period began at 9:30 a.m. I was assigned to handle Biology classes for Classes VIII and IX, covering five divisions in total. This helped me become familiar with different classrooms, students, and their learning levels.

The school routine was well organized, with the mid-day meal (lunch break) scheduled at 12:30 p.m. Daily activities also included the morning assembly, which promoted discipline and unity among students. Initially, all trainee teachers were accommodated in the school library, and later arrangements were made for us in the staff room, which allowed better interaction with teachers.

Throughout the week, I observed students actively participating in both academic and co-curricular activities. During free periods, students were seen playing cricket, reflecting their enthusiasm for sports and physical activity. Totally, the first week was an enriching experience that helped me understand the school environment, timetable structure, and student behavior, laying a strong foundation for the upcoming weeks of teaching practice.

During this week, our school organized a plant distribution campaign titled "Chagathik Oru Thai" (A Sapling for a Friend). The purpose of this campaign was to encourage students to plant trees, take care of the environment, and understand the importance of greenery in our daily lives. I actively participated in the campaign by distributing saplings to each student, explaining how to plant them properly, and encouraging them to take responsibility for nurturing the plants at home or in the school garden. I also helped the students understand the benefits of trees, such as providing oxygen, shade, and supporting wildlife.
